Overview
InsuFlo is an affordable insulin pump for people with diabetes. As insulin pumps are in direct contact with T1 diabetics practically throughout their lives, it is important that their design not only prioritizes treatment efficacy and patient’s safety, but also ease of use.
Role
Alongside a team of user experience designers and engineers, I was responsible for the Industrial design of the pump and its peripherals-which entails improving the physical aspects of the pump and its peripherals- its handling, aesthetics, wearability, accessibility, social perceptions, etc.

As the Industrial designer, I worked closely with the engineering teams to integrate the needs of insulin pump users with what is technologically feasible and economically viable as we design a solution that will improve the real-world effectiveness and sustained use of the device.
Process
The lab follows the 'User-in-the-loop approach to Engineering Design' framework wherein stakeholders are engaged at the end of each stage of the design process, to validate and modify, if necessary, the direction of product development.
